I’m Lou Anne Dunn, founder and lead designer of Neatly Dunn, Closets & Custom Spaces. My journey into design began more than 20 years ago and has taken many forms: architectural technology, CAD-based design, residential organizing, senior relocation support, and eventually leading design, sales, and training for one of the largest custom closet companies in the region.
Every chapter of my career has shaped how I approach design today: with intention, empathy, creativity, and a deep understanding of the real lives happening inside every home.
I’ve always believed that a well-designed space can change far more than a room, it can change how you feel when you walk into it. It can simplify your routines, reduce stress, restore order, and bring clarity to your day. And it’s that belief that inspired me to create Neatly Dunn: a warm, local, woman-owned design studio that focuses on you, not just the space you live in.
A Story Rooted in Creativity & Care
Before launching Neatly Dunn, I spent years helping clients organize their homes. We were sorting, downsizing, reimagining, and creating systems that brought peace to their everyday lives. I saw firsthand how powerful it is when someone feels truly supported in making their home functional again.
Later, when life took an unexpected turn and I faced a sudden health diagnosis, I had to rethink what “work” looked like for me. During that time, designing became my lifeline — a way to keep doing what I loved even when I couldn’t be physically on-site in the same way. I leaned deeper into CAD design, spatial planning, and creating custom spaces that blended beauty and functionality.
Those experiences built the foundation of who I am as a designer: someone who listens deeply, understands what people are going through, and creates spaces that support real-life challenges and joys.
When clients say things like “She listened to everything we needed” or “She made a stressful time easy,” it means the world to me, because this work is profoundly personal to me.
